My Spirit FM 90.5 | Pass the Gratitude - Get Writing

The folks at Harvard suggest that including some writing practices may be a great way to recognize and express your gratefulness. "Gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes it will make them happier, or thinking they can't feel satisfied until every physical and material need is met. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack. And, although it may feel contrived at first, this mental state grows stronger with use and practice." (Harvard Health Publications. Harvard Medical School. November 2011) 
 
  • Keep a Gratitude Journal: This is not only wonderful for children of all ages, but for adults too! Each day (or once a week), write down or draw a picture of the special gifts you received. Make sure to share with a loved one. There is an app for that! Gratitude Journal can be downloaded on your phone/tablet from your app store.  
  • Write Thank You Notes: Maybe mom was on to something! Not only is writing a thank you note good manners, it makes people feel good! Which makes the writer feel good. This is a win-win.
