Then he said to all, "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." Luke 9:23
Tomorrow is the first Friday of Lent. The Church encourages us to deny ourselves meat on Fridays and substitute meat for fish or some other lesser meal. God is really calling us to deny ourselves entirely of things that distract us from Him. We are called by Jesus to look at those things in our lives that keep us from living a life in Christ. It might be excessive food, drink, pornography, foul language, even wasting time instead of helping others. Spend some time in the chapel in quiet and try to listen to what God is calling you to do. Use this start of Lent assess what you are doing in your life that needs to change and with courage and conviction make the change today.
Question for Reflection
Will I courageously identify the sin in my life and stop doing it?
Lord, give me the strength and courage to right my wrongs!
